Product Description

Moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) has built thousands of sewage (waste) treatment facilities in many countries in the world and achieved good treatment results. MBBR Process uses the basic principle of biofilm process, combined with the advantages of activated sludge process, with suspended packing as the carrier of microbial growth, through the full fluidization of suspended packing in the secondary biochemical tank, to achieve efficient sewage treatment.

Working principle

The moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) needs the suspended packing which has the characteristics of close proportion to water, large effective specific surface area, and suitable for microbial growth. At present, many domestic equipment manufacturers have successfully developed MBBR, and China has issued the corresponding industry specifications. The suspended packing can be suspended by slightly stirring in the biochemical tank, which is easy to move freely with the water and can form a good fluidization state.

Under aerobic condition, the buoyancy of air bubble generated during aeration can promote the flow of packing and surrounding water. When the air flow passes through the water flow and packing gap, it is blocked by packing and divided into small bubbles.


In such a process, the packing is fully stirred and mixed with the water flow, and the air flow is fully divided into small bubbles, which increases the contact between the biofilm and oxygen and the oxygen transfer efficiency. Under the anaerobic condition, the water flow and packing are fully fluidized under the action of the submersible agitator, so as to achieve the purpose of full contact between the biofilm and the treated pollutants and degradation.

The core of MBBR Process is to realize the full fluidization of suspended carrier fillers, so as to strengthen the treatment of pollutants. In the practical application of MBBR Process, the main factors to be considered are biochemical tank type, suspended filler dosage, aeration system, intercepting screen, propeller, etc.

The fluidization of biological packing in aeration zone is the key to realize the good treatment function of the system. It mainly depends on the aeration system in the aerobic area of the biochemical tank. The proper aeration system in the aerobic area can ensure the fluidization effect of the biological carrier fluidizing filler, ensure the fluidizing filler to flow up and down, front and back in the water body, make the filler and the sewage fully mix, collide and contact, and effectively complete the three-way contact, exchange and adsorption of pollutants, water and gas.

Generally, the specific gravity of packing is 0.94-0.97. During the cultivation period, a large number of biofilm will slowly adhere to the packing surface. The larger the amount of adhesion, the larger the specific gravity will gradually increase. When the biofilm on the packing reaches a certain thickness, its specific gravity will be greater than 1. The packing will sink from the non aeration area to the bottom of the pool. The bottom of the aeration area has the strongest impact force, which can quickly wash off the residual biofilm on the packing, and the filling after the film removal The specific gravity of the material also decreased to below 1, and increased in the aeration area.

According to the changing characteristics of the specific gravity before and after the biofilm hanging, the packing can flip in the aeration area and the non aeration area with the water flow, thus completing the growth and falling off process of the biofilm alternately, ensuring the quantitative stability and activity of the biofilm, and making the process operation more stable. In order to prevent the fluidizing suspended packing from entering into the next link with the mixed liquid, a screen is designed in the appropriate position in the aerobic area for simple interception and separation. The screen material is stainless steel, and the type is matched with the suspended packing.
